Opportunity for members: Mayor's Culture Diary
|

|
|
|
A huge online calendar, 'The Culture Diary', is being
created to showcase every cultural event taking place across London during
the Olympic year.
The Culture Diary launched in June 2010. It is a unique online
tool which will enable the cultural sector to realise its highly
ambitious, bold and creative programmes in London throughout 2012. All
organisers of any London-based cultural event can register their activities
for 2012, and use the diary to search for other planned events.

Brand new choir needs buddies
|

|
|
|
A brand new community choir is being formed in
Bromley with the help of Making Music London.
The choir will start life under the wing of Community Options,
a charity that supports mental wellbeing, with support from the Oxleas
NHS Trust.
Local member groups may wish to get involved by sending
singers along to act as 'buddies' to our new singers. You'll be helping
something very worthwhile to take shape, plus potentially recruiting
for your group and advertising your own performances. Singers
from Bromley, Croydon, Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham are encouraged to get
involved.

Charity seeks choir in South East London
|

|
|
|
The King's College Hospital Limb Reconstruction Trust (KCH LRT)
is seeking a choir willing to either donate part of the proceeds from
its forthcoming Christmas concert to the charity, or alternatively to
put on a brand new concert in aid of KCH LRT.
This is a wonderful opportunity to do something extremely
worthwhile for a very deserving cause, by forming a partnership with a
local healthcare trust. Click here for
more details and information about how to get involved.

Money matters
|

|
|
|
A perennial pain for so many members and a frequent question
asked of Making Music: what should
we be paying?
There's
a special page all about fees for professionals
on our website to be found here,
based on some research we undertook in the recent past. Hopefully a very
useful resource for all.

Finally ... it's goodbye from him
After four years working part-time as a Development Officer
for the London region, Tom Hammond is off to pastures new. Already a busy
conductor of professional, student and voluntary orchestras across the
UK, Tom has been appointed Principal Conductor and Professor of
Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music's Junior Department (London). We
wish him every success.
The next London ebulletin will be sent out in mid September.
We wish you all a long and hot summer, and the very best for lots of
exciting music making.
