BSO February 25th
February 17th 2019
The schedule is for Strauss all evening. However it has been suggested that we should spend more time on the Reed so we will tuck in a rehearsal of the first movement of the Reed towards the end of the rehearsal. You will therefore need parts for both the Monday and Tuesday evenings of the Reed. Bromley Concert Reminder for Saturday January 26th
January 14th 2019
This is a reminder that the second concert of our 2018-19 Centenary season is on Saturday 26th January at Langley Park Centre for the Performing Arts BR3 3BP. Then, Mahler’s monumental First Symphony (the ‘Titan’), which exemplifies his comment: ‘To write a symphony is, for me, to construct a world.’ And to mark our centenary ...Continue Reading

Attn second violins!
February 15th 2019
Dear Second Violins! I’ve been thinking more about how we divide fig 66 in the Strauss. Nothing fits particularly well but I suggest the following (and we’ll see how it goes when we next rehearse this bit). Fig 66 = bar 1: 1: divide in 4 ie by player, player 4 plays bottom 2 pizz notes 2: divide by desk (ie desk 1 plays top, desk 2 plays middle, desk 3 plays bottom etc) 3-4: divide at the desk as usual 5-6: divide in 4 ie by player, player 2 plays 2 bottom pizz notes, players 3 and 4 g ...Continue Reading
