thanks

April 17th 2018

Dear all,I was very touched by getting yet another present from you last night (the main one being your generosity in playing for the Rohingya refugees in the first place!!- for which I can't thank you enough).I HAD said 'no presents' for my 60th, and I meant it, but - as it happens - my eyes are constantly getting worse (my 'new' orchestra glasses are out-of-date after only two months, so, yet again, my prescription must have deteriorated) and I'd actually been thinking of buying one of these. ...Continue Reading

You are all way too kind. And too supportive. And too terrific.I really thought that you had all ALREADY given me the most wonderful B-day present /ever/, by consenting to play for absolutely no money for a cause I really care about, only last week.(Not to mention giving up several evenings, when you all work so hard - not to mention Mary's coming back, out of the goodness of her heart, from retirement!!)We have had so many great comments, and so much very generous stuff written about us, on Fa ...Continue Reading

THANK YOU

Just a short note to say *THANK YOU* to each of you for last night, for your support, your playing and your rehearsing and special thanks to those of you (Becky and Anne esp.) who helped to bail us on on the coffee crisis (My church friend Marianne forgot she'd promised to get the coffee going, lol). Also want to flag up Helen G. for her lovely Hymnus solo and to apologise for Helen M. for playing one of HER solos in the last Handel (I just assume solo has to mean me, what a prat!!!) PS We don't want to be unhelpful to the woodwind sextet, however, as (after the church meeting votes on everything, including possible new minister, prob. finishing around 2:30) the sextet will be rehearsing in the church. We need to be sensitive about entering while the sextet are rehearsing, is what I mean.  ------ Forwarded Message ------ From: "Alice McVeigh via BSO celli" <cel...@bromleysymphony.org> To: "BSO celli" <cel...@bromleysymphony.org> Se ...Continue Reading

Brilliant question!!! With luck (my church is now applying for a new minister, ours having buzzed off to South Africa, and the URC is a deeply democratic church, so everything is voted upon and the church meeting on March 18th commences ) we SHOULD be able to rehearse around 3 on Sunday. Thanks so much.XXA ------ Original Message ------ From: "gbfage" <gbf...@yahoo.co.uk> To: "Alice McVeigh" <astm...@giardini.co.uk> Sent: 15/03/2018 18:42:18 Subject: Re: BSO ...Continue Reading

Hi guys, Looking forward to tomorrow!!! Will be gathering here at seven, with all the furniture cleared from the extension, and (with luck) starting at half-seven. Will supply snacks to those in need. My church secretary has requested spike protectors in the church. Am reminding you about stands for tomorrow eve (and on the day) just because of the /Hymnus/ (unless you WANT to share a stand? Grateful thanks to Hel for doing these. Was dumbfounded with the Roy Harris. Never felt so much like a spare part in all my life. Did he hate section principals - or rank-and-file???? Thanks so much for yesterday and looking forward to seeing you on Friday night!!! Have got a new Duke Ellington which looks great but we won't shove it in if it's too hard. If *possible*, could those of you who haven't yet shared the concert with Unicef link on Facebook think about doing so? Cello for hire

January 8th 2018

To the lovely members of the cello section, I am looking to borrow/hire a cello whilst my cello is having some repairs. It was unfortunately knocked over during a carol service in the Christmas holidays, and has a horrible crack along the back (see photo) If you know of anyone who has a cello I could borrow/hire, or a recommendation of where I might be able to hire one, then please let me know asap. Until then I am unfortunately going to be 'out of action' with no instrument to play. On Alice's' recommendation, I ...Continue Reading
