Cellos 2006The orchestra rehearses on Mondays from 19:30 to 22:00 at Bishop Justus CE School, Magpie Hall Lane, Bromley BR2 8HZ. We welcome applications from prospective members and ask new members to complete an address form and Gift Aid declaration at their first rehearsal. We collect an annual subscription from members who attend rehearsals (with a 50% discount for students). Seating positions are rotated where possible and there are opportunities to perform solo parts.

Playing members commit to the full rehearsal series for each concert they play in. If an absence is unavoidable please contact your section leader immediately, and if you were due to rehearse a solo part, please find a deputy. Members are also expected to put in the necessary time outside rehearsals to learn and practise the pieces they perform, and to promote ticket sales for all the orchestra’s concerts.

Please bring a music stand to rehearsals. Bowed string parts are available after the first rehearsal and string players mark up their own parts.

There is a mailing list for members and a facebook members group 'BSO Tutti', an official facebook page and a twitter feed @BromleySymphony. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available for 50p at rehearsals. Some members socialise at The Two Doves in Oakley Road after rehearsals and The Railway in West Wickham after concerts.

We currently have vacancies for a co-principal trombone, violins and harps of approximately grade 8 standard (most other instruments have a waiting list). Audition is usually just by sitting beside the section leader for part of a rehearsal.

Garden party

For all Orchestra members, their partners & children and friends of the Orchestra.

Frank will provide the meat for the BBQ, and would welcome contributions of any of the following:

Savoury dishes - e.g. quiches, flans,
Salads of all sorts - e.g. potato, rice, pasta, green, bean etc.
Puddings of all sorts
Please also bring drinks - wines, beers, fruit juices, soft drinks etc.

Please contact Paul in advance so that we can make some attempt to coordinate food contribution. Details and return slip.

We will have several garden tables and chairs dotted around the garden, however, if you have folding garden chairs or tables that easily fit into your car, these will be useful.  There will be an air rifle shooting competition to shoot a metal squirrel although if you bag a real one Frank would be grateful as they ruin his garden!!

If you have any items that you can contribute as raffle prizes (booze, books, CD's, plants/seedlings, unwanted gifts, etc.), these will be most welcome.
