If anyone is interested
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing with information about the Basically Quartets courses that you may want to pass on to violinists in the Bromley Symphony.
Now in it's eighth year, Basically Quartets is fast becoming one of the UK's most preeminent chamber music courses. Basically Quartets will be held twice this summer: Opus One August 15th – 20th and Opus Two August 22nd – 27th, both at Noddfa, our previous years' idyllic location in North Wales. Enrolment is limited to four groups per course, keeping the atmosphere intimate and friendly while providing a high tutor/participant ratio. Opus 1 is fully subscribed, but there is still one opening for a 1st violin on Opus 2. Basically Quartets welcomes players of varying levels, but this particular vacancy would best suit a Grade 7+ level player with some quartet experience.
Basically Quartets will appeal to both novice and experienced chamber musicians. In addition to the rehearsal and coaching sessions one would expect, interesting workshops are offered on a variety of related topics such as rehearsal and practise techniques, an overview of the string quartet literature and injury prevention for musicians. Another unique feature of the course is the common work of study. In addition to each group's chosen repertoire, all participants are asked to become familiar with a selected Haydn quartet which provides a reference point for lectures and facilitates “mix and match” sessions where participants work with members of other groups.
Full course details, registration form, brochure, photos and participants' comments are available on the website:
I am attaching a poster that can be printed or emailed. Thank you for letting your players know about this unique opportunity.
